THE ACADEMY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP SA (AEL) CELEBRATES ITS 2023 GRADUATES
We’re excited to share some fantastic news about the recent graduation ceremony held at our Uizip campus – Our Class of 2023 achieved an outstanding 96% pass rate, and we couldn’t be prouder!
A diverse group of 48 accomplished students marked the culmination of their academic journey by donning their caps and gowns. The ceremony, held on December 1st, was a joyous and memorable event for all participants, celebrating the hard work and dedication of our graduates.
Highlights from the ceremony included an inspiring commencement address by Prof Leopoldt van Huyssteen, Director and Head of the Academy. Prof Andrew M. Crouch, Vice Chancellor and Principal at Sol Plaatje University, also joined us as the guest speaker, contributing valuable insights to the occasion.
Heidi Bartis, AEL CEO, expressed her pride in the graduates who completed the Higher Certificate in Conservation Ecology (NQF Level 5). This certificate not only acknowledges their achievements, but also serves as an alternative access route for admission to Sol Plaatje University in selected cognate programmes.
Throughout the academic year, our students delved into focused concepts of biology, ecology, conservation, and more, exploring the multi-disciplinary field of Conservation Ecology. The graduation ceremony reflected the richness of our diverse and inclusive community, bringing together students with a common interest in nature conservation.
Following the ceremony, graduates, faculty and guests enjoyed a networking event, fostering connections and celebrating the day’s achievements in a relaxed setting.
The Northern Cape Province has much to offer to the country, and strengthening the academic offering in the province not only benefits the nation, but adds value to addressing the skills shortage in our country. We are immensely proud of our graduating students’ hard work and dedication.
