We were fortunate to host Dr Candice Jansen van Rensburg (Senior Lecturer) from the Department of Zoology and Entomology at the University of the Free State, and Anke de Smidt (PhD student) for our annual Water Week.
During the week they lectured our students and shared their acquired knowledge of freshwater biodiversity and ecology.
Our students also had practicals during which they had to determine the quality of water at various different water sources at campus, and they were also tasked with monitoring the water quality of the river by looking at the species composition of insects and other invertebrates in the river – what a fun week for our students to practice what they are learning!
