Q&A WITH AN AEL STUDENT

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.

A: My name is Kamogelo Natsane, I’m from Upington. I consider myself to be a kind person and enjoy the company of others. I also enjoy discovering new things and exploring the world around me.

Q: How did you come to know about AEL and what was your reason for applying?

A: Mr. Charles Lubbe introduced the course during a visit to our school and because I wasn’t accepted to university, I decided to apply to AEL. I was curious about Conservation Ecology.

Q: How has your experience been studying at AEL?

A: It’s been awesome – I’ve learnt a lot. I’ve made new friends and learnt about their different personality types (as well as my own) which helps us understand them better. I’ve also learnt a lot of about plants and animals I never knew before. The staff are wonderful too, they’ve made me feel at home.

Q: What would you like to do once you’ve graduated from AEL?

A: I want to pursue an environmental career, because of the love I’ve developed for nature this past year. I’ll do so by studying further next year before I start working.

Q: What advice can you give prospective students?

A: Work hard, there is a lot of pressure. It’s important to stay focused and do extra effort. You’ll experience a lot during this year and you’ll go on amazing tours.
